If your organization is experiencing poor phone performance resulting in call breakups and drops, it will lead to communication challenges both internally and between employees and customers.

This will result in productivity losses and lead to damaged customer relationships and lost revenue.

To avoid these issues, it may be a good idea to upgrade your phone service by using a Microsoft Teams phone solution provided and managed by Coeo.

To meet a broad range of needs, Coeo offers two Microsoft Teams phone solution options. Operator Connect with Coeo and Coeo Connect are two solutions that organizations can choose from to better improve their current phone service.

If you do not understand the differences between the two solutions that Coeo offers, you will not be able to accurately determine which solution is the better choice for your organization.

Coeo understands how important reliable phone service is and has delivered thousands of Microsoft Teams phone solutions to organizations to improve phone performance, productivity, and communication with customers.

By the end of this article, you will understand what Operator Connect with Coeo is, what Coeo Connect is, the differences between the two solutions, and which solution is the better choice for your organization.

What is Microsoft Teams Operator Connect with Coeo?

Microsoft Teams Operator Connect is a solution that enables organizations to connect their existing phone service to the Public Switch Telephone Network (PSTN) through qualified Telecom Service Providers to make and receive calls.

Moving your existing phone service to Operator Connect enables you to make calls through Microsoft Teams rather than requiring another online connection. This enables you to save money by continuing to use your existing phone system and infrastructure.

Operator Connect also enables you to connect your solution with certified operators, such as Coeo, directly to Microsoft Teams.

Using Operator Connect with Coeo allows you to select Coeo from Microsoft’s list of certified operators to manage and provide this solution for your organization.

What is Coeo Connect?

Coeo Connect is Coeo’s version of Microsoft Teams Direct Routing. Coeo is a Microsoft-certified provider and delivers Direct Routing phone solutions to organizations.

Since Microsoft Teams telephony is simply a platform and not a phone carrier, your organization must have a carrier partner to deliver the connection and manage the solution for you.

Driven by Microsoft Teams technology, Coeo Connect enables you to have a cloud-based phone solution that connects to the internet to make and receive calls without the need for an SBC or other type of hardware.

Coeo’s support team manages and maintains your phone service for you to ensure the highest quality solution and user experience.

The differences between Operator Connect with Coeo and Coeo Connect

Now you understand what Microsoft Teams Operator Connect with Coeo is and what Coeo Connect is. However, it is important that you understand the differences between the two so you can determine which solution is the better choice for your organization.

The differences between Operator Connect with Coeo and Coeo Connect include:

Cost

Coeo Connect is typically more expensive than Operator Connect with Coeo. The biggest reason for this is the equipment required.

Coeo Connect requires the use of SBCs to connect your phone solution to the PTSN which can be more costly while Operator Connect with Coeo does not require an SBC which is why it is generally less expensive.

Additionally, because Coeo Connect requires more hardware with the use of SBCs, it can be more expensive to acquire, maintain or replace hardware when necessary.

Operator Connect with Coeo typically provides lower upfront costs while the pricing per month depends on the plan you select.

Installation and set up

As mentioned previously, Coeo Connect requires the use of an SBC to source SIP Trunking and secure the communication connection between the telecom provider and your organization’s data network.

Depending on the kind of SBC you use, your SBC can also provide transcoding to translate the different signals enabling older and newer phone technology to be able to communicate with each other.

Because of this, Coeo Connect typically requires more effort and IT expertise to install and configure the SBCs and other hardware involved to get the phone solution up and running.

Alternatively, Operator Connect with Coeo does not require an SBC to be installed as part of the phone service.

Instead, Coeo will use the Teams Admin Center to assign phone numbers and features to the organization’s phone solution.

Solution management

Coeo Connect enables your organization to configure and manage your own telephony routing and policies from your phone system.

Operator Connect with Coeo, on the other hand, allows your organization to access telephony analytics and insights directly from the Microsoft Teams portal.

This typically makes it easier to modify your phone solution since all you need to do is access the online portal.

Which solution is right for your organization?

Now you understand what Operator Connect with Coeo is, what Coeo Connect is, and the differences between the two. However, it is also important to determine which one is better for your organization.

If your organization is looking for the least expensive option, Operator Connect with Coeo is the better solution for your organization.

However, if your organization is looking to fully manage the solution internally, Coeo Connect may be the better choice since Operator Connect with Coeo is managed almost entirely by Coeo.

Lastly, if your organization is looking for more communication tools such as instant messaging to communicate internally with employees, a UCaaS solution may be the best solution for your organization.
